Max performing as Frosch

OPERcussion

For over 20 years, Max Pollak has been the leading innovator establishing the body as a legitimate musical instrument, also in contemporary classical, symphonic, and chamber music. On January 13th, 2027, he will perform a special chamber music concert with OPERcussion, the six percussionists of the Bavarian State Opera. Since 2023, he has the recurring role of “Frosch” in Barrie Kosky’s new production of the classic "Die Fledermaus" by Johann Strauss jr., at the world's leading opera houses (Bavarian State Opera, Munich, Amsterdam National Opera, and Copenhagen Opera). He has amassed a staggering amount of written repertoire composed specifically for his instrument and approach, in combination with various musical configurations. From full symphony orchestra, to countless chamber music ensembles of contrasting size and instrumentation, to duos with cello, trumpet, bass-clarinet, guitar or flute, and of course experimental electronics.
